GS1 DataBar Symbology – Role and Opportunity in Fresh Business Process Improvement: Alan Williams, VP of Applications Development at Ahold will present the latest in the expanded and emerging GS1 DataBar symbology in a presentation entitled; "Designing your systems today to enable the capabilities of this symbology tomorrow". Alan will provide retailer perspectives on the evolving standards for the use of GS1 DataBar in fresh and perishable products and what retailers need to consider in their merchandising and supply chain solutions. He has great insight as a retailer in presenting the benefits and challenges grocers face in modernizing their legacy systems for the future.

How Web-services Can Enable Your FIM Framework:  Three 15-minute round table workshop sessions provide real world examples of web-services integrations.  Business users will see how web-service technologies change the way they work in administering FIM items, merchandising fresh departments and working FIM technology at the store.  This session will provide a non-technologist’s view of how web-services synergize work and activity across your FIM categories for a cohesive and collaborative FIM initiative.

Food Safety Focus: What to Expect from Congress and the Obama Administration – John Motley a founding partner of Policy Solutions Group, a new government and public affairs firm with a strong credentials and decades of experience in food distribution and food safety, will present the latest on what to expect from Washington. John is the former Sr. Vice President for Government and Public Policy for The Food Marketing Institute and will discuss major food safety legislation currently moving through Congress. John will share his views on the likely approach of the Obama Administration on food safety issues and regulations. This important presentation will contain information you will need to know to run your business, anticipate upcoming federal laws and regulations and understand impacts to our industry and your company.

FIM Project Implementation Training: This session provides step by step training on how to implement and manage FIM data projects. Participants will learn how to leverage InterStore.NET’s superset of FIM tools throughout your enterprise. Covered will be training on how to connect InterStore data to 3rd party applications. Bring your systems integration questions and get answers on the power of Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) and WSDL to implement whole new web-service based applications.

NutriGen Recipe Management Training: Recipe management helps the grocer to manage the complexities of FIM. Hands-on training on how to install and maintain recipes will be covered. Bring your recipes to ReFresh and enter them during the course of the workshops. Understand how your specific recipes are managed within the InterStore framework. Included is training on fresh ingredient traceability, expanded wellness marketing and advanced dietary compliance data handling. NutriGen’s expanded ability to better administrate recipe changes can play a key role in your fresh team’s wellness marketing capability.

P-Cubed Production Planning Training: (Pre-requisite is NutriGen Recipe Management Training) Production planning provides in-store personnel with guidance on production based on configured business rules. With NutriGen recipes steps for production are available at store and throughout the organization. Hands-on training on the forecasted production touch screen, to govern the day’s activities, is offered. This training focuses on successfully using the production tools available to manage the store fresh department to-do’s. Learn how better production decisions at the point of production enhance store worker satisfaction by increasing control over their daily work plan to get the production right and reward their proactive efforts.

12:00PM to 1:00PM ADC User Group Luncheon: Learn how ADC’s new customer service portals work for collaborative support. New ways will be presented to work more tightly to control joint costs in managing your ADC investments. 2009 development priority based on Retailer Advisory Board recommendations will be presented for a concurrence vote.
1:00PM to 1:45PM Wholesaler and Independent Forum: Unique FIM requirements of the wholesaler and independent grocer community. ADC announces solutions to help the wholesaler implement advanced FIM technology in their retailer communities. Covered will be NutriGen’s role in helping the wholesaler improve fresh food ingredient safety and traceability to effect “chain-like” control of the food safety facts—without compromising the independent grocers need for individual store handling of fresh items important to their market differentiation and independent branding philosophies.
