John Motley previously worked at the Food Marketing Institute, an international food trade association, where he served as senior vice president of government affairs. Before FMI, he served in similar positions at the National Retail Federation and the National Federation of Independent Business. He is a 37- year veteran of the government affairs arena in Washington and has represented both large and small retailers before Congress and the Executive Branch. During his career, he was named by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the 25 most powerful lobbyists and by Roll Call as one of its "Fabulous Fifty". He made The Hill Newspaper "Rainmaker" List and was named by Influence Newsletter as a top trade association lobbyist. Motley has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times and other national newspapers and business magazines. He has appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour, and on CNN's Money Line, Politics Today, Crossfire, and Late Edition programs.
Motley holds a B.A. and M.A. degree from Providence College and has completed additional post-graduate studies at both Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife, Deborah, reside in Washington, D.C.
Alan
is closely involved with the latest GS1 barcode technology and serves as
Co-Chair of the GS1 Joint Industry Coupon Committee that supports an industry
coupon reengineering initiative. Alan has presented on GS1 barcoding at
FMI, ACP, IBM Retail User Group, and U-Connect conferences.
Alan has spent over 35 years in supermarket food and drug retailing. Prior
to joining Ahold in 2000, Alan held various IT management roles at Albertsons,
American Stores and Jewel Companies.
Mike Griswold brings over two decades of industry experience to his role. Mike is primarily responsible for researching, analyzing, and writing about the technologies, best practices, and trends that grocers and other fast-moving consumer goods retailers utilize to maintain and enhance their business and retail operations.
Prior to joining AMR Research, Mike was the director of supply chain business programs at Albertson’s. In this position, he directed the systems development lifecycle for an enterprise-wide forecasting and replenishment application. He was also responsible for facilitating the business planning process across marketing, merchandising, and the supply chain.
Before this, Mike held several positions at Shaw’s Supermarkets. Most recently, he was a director of integration. Prior to Shaw’s, Mike spent nine years at Hills Department Stores, where he implemented a new POS system and introduced UPC scanning to the company, which included a network of over 200 stores.
Mike earned his BS in business management from Canisius College and his MBA from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He holds a Six Sigma Green Belt technical certification.
As Industry Principal, Randy Evins provides thought leadership and retail business development prowess to SAP Retail in America. Randy has over 30-years of experience in retail in general and specifically the supermarket/grocery industry—with special emphasis on business process improvement and innovation in fresh categories using advanced technologies.
Randy is a strong proponent of enabling technology for Fresh Item Management (FIM), and has been instrumental in the design, testing and implementation of specific systemic meat buying industry improvements. Accomplishments include extensive interaction with BACG to automate multi-banner buying and advanced supply chain control. Randy provided the impetus for changes and improvements while working in retail for in line ordering, supply chain forecasting, bill out processing and inventory reconciliation.
Randy has learned the grocery industry from the ground up and has keen insights into the inner workings of fresh departments—often providing significant contribution to business improvements to enhance the shopper’s experience. Randy has become an industry icon for change in legacy systems and a catalyst for using modern technology to improve the grocer’s ability to satisfy and protect the consumer.
Prior to joining SAP, Randy grew his career in ever increasing levels of management in many great retailers including: HEB, American Stores, Lucky Stores and Safeway. He has spent time in virtually every aspect of the fresh category business providing management, leadership and advocacy for fresh business process change. Randy has helped grocers enhance their shopper value proposition—while lowering costs via process reengineering and utilization of innovative enabling technology. Randy continues to provide SAP retail clients and prospects with insights into the value in his experience and leadership of SAP retail technology.
