Tampa, Fla. (January 1, 2011) – Applied Data Corporation (ADC), a leading provider of fresh item management, recipe management, and scales management software to the grocery retail and food service industries, announces that a 100+ grocery store chain based in the S.E. USA has successfully completed the roll-out of ADC's InterScale system for hosting data to the barcode labeling scales in each of their stores.
This press release is necessarily anonymous because the retailer's CIO when asked for press release permission stated "It is our company policy that we don't do press releases of this nature. When we find something that works, we like to keep it to ourselves."
ADC worked with the retailer's scale vendor to fully integrate the InterScale Scale Server module onto a PC-based scale in each store allowing it to host data to all other scales in that store, irrespective of brand, significantly reducing hardware costs. Additionally, ADC's Fresh Item Management system's user interface renders on the PC-based scale's touch-screen, promoting the scale to become the workstation in each fresh department. ADC's InterScale communicates with over 50 models of scales and bar-code label printers from a variety of manufacturers to improve scale pricing, tare and labeling accuracy.
"With InterScale rolled out, we have seen significant decreases in the time it takes to complete in-store tasks," stated the retailer's Fresh Item Management Project Manager. "For example, functionality provided by ADC to implement emergency price maintenance has significantly improved processing time – from two hours to ten minutes."
InterScale is a part of ADC's InterStore.NET suite of Fresh Item Management (FIM) software that automates all aspects of a grocery's fresh departments. This includes recipe management, production planning, markdowns and shrink management, among others. By automating theses tasks, InterStore.NET helps grocers increase their store associate efficiency and reduce costs.
"There has been an increased interest in our niche of fresh item management software and we are experiencing significant growth as a result," said Steve Loveridge, ADC's President and CEO. "We constantly listen to our clients, as well as follow industry trends and news so that we continue to develop software that helps grocers save time, reduce costs and increase sales."
